RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot eyes man utd move

The 21-year-old signed a new deal earlier this summer, ending the chances of a transfer during the most recent window.

However, Bild reports that the defender possesses a £38m release clause in his deal which can be activated next summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United are both considered to be two of the favourites for the player as they look to strengthen their respective backlines.

French centre-back, Upamecano will come up against the Red Devils in the Champions League later this year after RB Leipzig and the Premier League outfit were drawn alongside each other in the group stages.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Man Utd also eyeing a move for another Bundesliga star Jadon Sancho.

Dayot took the eye in the Bundesliga last term and his displays helped Leipzig reach the last four of the UCL.

One major stumbling block for a trade in the market just gone was that his old deal had a £54m exit clause.

With no clubs ready to fork out that amount, the talent decided to extend his current stay until June of 2023.

But that new contract contains a new release clause which could be a game changer in terms of Dayot’s next move.

German outlet Sport BILD claim that the revised deal means that he can leave in the summer for the reduced figure of £36.5m.

Potential buyers will be able to bid at a much lower price and Die Roten Bullen, who would run the risk of losing him for nothing, can get a substantial fee still.
