He will play plenty of football” – Solskjaer promised Brazilian midfielder first-team minutes

Manchester United head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reassured Fred that he will be given regular first-team football this season.

Despite having joined the Red Devils for £52m last summer, Fred only went on to play 19 appearences and five substitute outings in all competitions.

The South American midfielder l is yet to feature during the current season, which has resulted in suggestions that the 26-year-old Brazilian may look to depart from the Old Trafford.

However, Norwegian manager has insisted that the player will stay in his squad for the current season and will be handed a regular first-team football after the international break.

Solskjaer is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “He is working hard and at the moment he’s just behind Paul [Pogba] and Scott [McTominay] – who has done really well – and Nemanja [Matic], who hasn’t been involved.

“August is the most difficult period to manage a big squad because there’s only one game a week and everybody’s fit because we’ve had pre-season, and everyone’s ready to play.

“In September, October, November – when injuries come – that’s when you have most of the games. So, he will play plenty of football.”

Fred will hope to make an appearance as soon as he return from the international break and fiht for spot in the starting XI with his compatriot Andreas Pereira.
