Done Deal: Celtic complete signing of highly-rated Man Utd defender

Scottish giants Celtic have secure services of Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong from Manchester City, and Manchester United defender Lee O’Connor, according to the BBC reports.

Both defensive pair join on four-year deals with the Scottish Premiership defending champions..

Neither O’Connor, 18 nor Frimpong, 19, have made a first-team appearance for the Manchester teams, however, both of them have been tipped to have a bright future and regular first-team football at Celtic could help them to continue their development.

“It feels amazing to have joined Celtic,” Frimpong told Celtic’s website.

“I started going on YouTube to watch Celtic, and when they were on TV, I watched the games. Now I can’t wait to play at Celtic Park in front of the fans.

“The manager phoned me today and told me that he believes in me and he thinks that what I can do will be good for the team.”

O’Connor, a Republic of Ireland under-21 side, can play anywhere at the backline end or as a defensive midfielder and his versatility could give a huge boost for Scottish giants to defend the title and show their best at European level.

“I just want to get started, work hard and give it my all, and hopefully the manager and all the staff will see why they’ve brought me here and I can make an impact,” he said.
