Romelu Lukaku, after falling out of favor and down the pecking order at Manchester United, has been pushing for an exit from the club and according to reports, the Red Devils have identified a suitable replacement and are close to sealing a deal for him.

As reported by Daily Mail, Manchester United are on the verge of signing Croatian international Mario Mandzukic after agreeing personal terms on a three-year deal with the Juventus star which would see him earn £6.2 million per year, ( bringing it to a total worth £18.6million)That is 35% more than his current wage at Juventus.

Daily Mail reports that even if Dybala refuses a move to Old Trafford, Juve will still look to release Mandzukic and replace him with Lukaku. Mandzukic’s value is estimated at £15million.

Mandzukic is a proven goal scorer and a partnership with Marcus Rashford will improve the Red Devils squad. The Croatian has won all domestic title in Germany and Italy and can also boast of a Champions League trophy which he won with Bayern Munich back in 2013.

The striker was not a regular starter under Max Allegri last season but he still managed to find the net nine times and provided six assists in 25 Serie A appearances.

Mandzukic is currently the highest goal scorer in the Croatia team only behind the legendary Real Madrid player Davor Suker.
