Man United 29-year-old star on the verge of leaving Old Trafford for £8.6m fee

Manchester United have reportedly decided to sell Matteo Darmian during the summer transfer window.

Darmian has only been used as backup at United for the last two seasons, but there had been suggestions that the Premier League giants could offer the versatile defender a new contract.

However, according to The Sun, United will now look to part ways with the Italian for a reduced fee of £8.6m. The alleged development will alert a number of clubs in Serie A, and Inter Milan are said to be ready to take the opportunity to try to sign the former Torino man.

The 29-year-old’s only outing over the past three months came in last week’s Manchester derby.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils reportedly joined direct Premier League rivals Manchester City in the race to secure services of Atletico Madrid’s midfielder Rodri this summer.

Recent reports have claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side are willing to meet the Rodri’s release clause of €70m (£59.7m) after identifying him as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho.

However, Marca reported that the English champions could face stiff competition for his signature from top European teams.

The Red Devils are among the top teams considering a bid for the 22-year-old midfielder, while PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also been rumoured with a move for his signature.
